Send WordPress email through SMTP2GO
Connect WordPress to SMTP2GO with NimblyMail SMTP — redundant global infrastructure, a permanent free plan, and simple SMTP-only setup.
Why pair SMTP2GO with NimblyMail
SMTP2GO is a pure SMTP relay service — no bundled marketing suite, just redundant sending infrastructure across multiple global data centers with automatic failover. NimblyMail SMTP connects your WordPress site to SMTP2GO using dedicated SMTP user credentials, giving WooCommerce stores and content sites a reliable, no-frills delivery path with a genuinely permanent free tier to start on.
SMTP2GO’s whole product is relay reliability: mail routes through redundant data centers, and if one fails, delivery automatically shifts to another without you doing anything. That kind of infrastructure resilience is hard to get from smaller providers, and it’s a genuine advantage for stores that can’t afford silent email failures during checkout.
Unlike many competitors that discontinued their free tiers, SMTP2GO still offers a no-credit-card-required free plan, which makes it an easy way to test NimblyMail’s connection end-to-end before committing to a paid tier. Its dashboard is deliberately simple — delivery status, bounce/spam reporting, and SMTP user management, without marketing-campaign clutter.
Connect SMTP2GO in three steps
Create an SMTP user
In SMTP2GO, go to Sending > SMTP Users, click Add SMTP User, and set a username, password, and optional rate limit for this connection.
Configure NimblyMail
In WordPress, go to NimblyMail SMTP > Settings, select SMTP2GO, and enter host mail.smtp2go.com with port 2525 (recommended; 587, 80, 25, or 8025 also work, with 465/8465/443 for SSL). Enter the SMTP username and password from step 1.
Send a test email
Send a test email from NimblyMail to confirm delivery.
Verify your sending domain in SMTP2GO under Sending > Verified Senders / Domains and add the SPF and DKIM TXT records it provides to your DNS zone. Verifying your domain also removes the free plan's hourly sending cap.
SMTP2GO + WordPress, answered
Yes — SMTP2GO markets itself specifically as an alternative to providers that discontinued free tiers; the free plan (around 1,000 emails/month, 200/day) doesn't expire and requires no credit card.
Yes, SMTP2GO also has an HTTP API, but NimblyMail SMTP connects via its SMTP relay, which is the simpler and more universally supported option for WordPress.
Some hosting environments block standard mail ports; 2525 is SMTP2GO's most commonly unblocked port and behaves identically to the others.
Yes — SMTP2GO lets you create separate SMTP users per project, which is useful if you're managing several WordPress sites and want isolated credentials and rate limits for each.
Paid accounts can burst up to roughly 3x their monthly allowance with overage billed per thousand; the free plan does not support overage and will hold or reject mail once the cap is hit.
