Send WordPress email through Mailjet
Connect WordPress to Mailjet via NimblyMail SMTP for EU-hosted, GDPR-friendly transactional email delivery from Sinch.
Why pair Mailjet with NimblyMail
Mailjet, part of Sinch, runs on EU-hosted infrastructure with GDPR compliance built into its data handling — a natural fit for WordPress sites and WooCommerce stores serving European customers. NimblyMail SMTP connects to Mailjet using its API key/secret key pair, so transactional email routes through Mailjet’s servers with clear delivery tracking in its dashboard.
Mailjet’s biggest differentiator for privacy-conscious businesses is EU data residency — mail data is processed on European servers under Sinch’s GDPR-focused infrastructure, which matters if you’re required to keep customer data processing within the EU. Its authentication model (an API key as username, secret key as password) is simple to configure and easy to rotate independently of your Mailjet account login.
Mailjet also includes a real-time collaborative email template editor in its dashboard — useful if a marketing teammate wants to design branded transactional templates without touching WordPress or code, while NimblyMail continues to handle the actual delivery trigger.
Connect Mailjet in three steps
Copy your API key and secret key
In Mailjet, go to Account Settings > API Key Management and copy your API key and Secret key.
Configure NimblyMail
In WordPress, go to NimblyMail SMTP > Settings, select Mailjet, and enter host in-v3.mailjet.com with port 587 (STARTTLS; 465 also works). Set the SMTP username to your API key and the password to your Secret key.
Send a test email
Send a test email from NimblyMail to confirm authentication and delivery.
Verify your sending domain in Mailjet under Account Settings > Sender domains & addresses, adding the SPF and DKIM TXT records Mailjet provides to your DNS zone. Verified domains get materially better inbox placement than unverified single-sender addresses.
Mailjet + WordPress, answered
Mailjet's free plan allows roughly 6,000 emails/month but caps at about 200/day — any excess queues for up to three days and is then discarded, so it's better suited to low-volume or testing use than an active store with sales spikes.
The API key is your public identifier (used as the SMTP username); the Secret key is your private credential (used as the SMTP password) — never expose the Secret key outside your NimblyMail settings.
Mailjet was acquired by Sinch; billing, GDPR documentation, and some dashboard branding now reference Sinch alongside Mailjet.
Yes — Mailjet serves customers globally, but its EU data residency is a specific advantage if GDPR compliance or European data handling is a requirement for your business.
WooCommerce generates its own HTML emails through WordPress; Mailjet's collaborative editor is for templates you build and trigger directly within Mailjet, not something WooCommerce automatically pulls from.
